About EOLO
EOLO is a leading national telecommunications operator in the field of wireless ultra-broadband (FWA) for the residential and business market.
Today EOLO is present throughout Italy with coverage in over 6,800 municipalities thanks to a network of over 3,600 BTS (radio repeaters) and more than 13,000km of fiber optic backbones.
It offers connectivity solutions with a strong focus on the areas characterized by the so-called “Digital divide”.
The Challenge
EOLO’s legacy technology was using open source telephony platforms which was limiting the services the Italian telecoms operator was able to offer its customers.
EOLO wanted to be able to offer additional value-added services and more professional traffic management in order to better meet the needs of the business market.
The company wanted to interconnect to Telecom Italia’s public network and to completely renew its network architecture.
The solution
Following a detailed selection process EOLO selected Telsis’ next-generation Ocean Service Platform (OSP) to replace its legacy technology. The programmable, multi-service platform gives networks operators the power to rapidly create and deploy new services.
The deal was won through Connecting Project, Telsis’ partner and system integrator. Connecting Project, an expert in the market since 2006, already had a strong relationship with EOLO so was the perfect choice to work alongside Telsis to supply EOLO’s new telephony architecture.
The first objectives for the introduction of OSP was to enable a “real time billing” service interconnected directly with the EOLO CRM systems through API.
Detailed feasibility studies were undertaken, and in-depth technical analysis provided for all of EOLO’s requests. The expert work carried out by the respective teams in the presales phase allowed for precise planning during the operational phase. This resulted in the implementation and start-up of the platform in less than the 90 days established by the supply contract.
The Result
Telsis’ Ocean System Platform is now fully integrated with the EOLO public telephone network based on an IMS fully compliant technology.
Thanks to its flexibility and high level of integration with EOLO CRM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, OSP provides value-added real-time services for both residential and business markets. This includes real time billing and VoIP Anti-Fraud management.
OSP has allowed EOLO to provide enhanced telephony services to its business customers and to manage the interconnection with the Telecom Italia network in the best possible way.
