M-net consolidate their network with Telsis Ocean Media Server

Munich network operator integrates media services into its core services platform

Darmstadt, 5 November 2019 – As part of its network evolution, leading Bavarian optical fibre provider M-net is consolidating its telecoms network components with the Telsis Ocean Media Server in line with its state-of-the-art IP modernisation programme.

M-net has operated the Telsis Ocean Services Platform (OSP) for over a decade. It acts as the central routing entity for numerous products in the business and residential segment. The implementation of the Media Server simplifies the network for M-net by reducing the number of vendors and optimising operating procedures.

Telsis’ Ocean Media Server is a powerful next generation media server that seamlessly integrates a wide range of service capabilities, including the ability to handle WebRTC media sessions as well as traditional telephony services.

Frank Duderstadt, Head of Planning and Implementation at M-net explains: “Telsis has been our reliable technology partner for many years and has also professionally implemented this project as expected. The integration of the Media Server into our network simplifies the delivery of new products and allows us to respond much faster to market demands. The effort involved in implementation has also decreased.”

Lorenz Grehlich, Head of Network Engineering at M-net, adds: “It was a complex project, because to avoid further adaptations to existing network components, Telsis had to adapt all interfaces in the Media Server according to our specifications. But thanks to the platform’s flexibility, we had no concerns about that. A later release will also enable HD Voice announcements on the M-net network.”

Telsis has a successful track-record of delivering leading-edge solutions to M-net and has worked closely with the German operator to migrate their services from legacy network technology to next-generation architecture running the agile OSP software. OSP easily spans between next-generation and legacy networks, supporting both physical and virtualised environments.

Managing Director of Telsis GmbH, Mr. Peter Ritzmann, concluded: “The fact that M-net has contracted with Telsis to implement this extensive project demonstrates our confidence in our technology and expertise. It also consolidates our partnership and creates a solid foundation for additional projects.”
